Welcome to the website of the German Society for Mammalian Biology!

Since 1926, the German Society for Mammalian Biology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Säugetier-kunde, e.V.) aims at fostering research and conservation of mammal species in their natural habitats. This is achieved by editing the scientific journal Mammalian Biology and by regular scientific meetings, where current topics and research activities from all fields of mammalian biology are presented and discussed. The self-concept of the German Society for Mammalian Biology is to act as an integrative institution, which fosters exchange of information between organisations working in the field of mammalogy. Beside universities, museums and research centers this includes also zoos as well as administrative bodies of protected areas.

The history of our society
